Napoleon at War: Four Epics, One Proven System
This Deluxe Edition breathes new life into a monument of classic wargaming. It features four distinct battles, each offering its own historical challenges and specific rules, while sharing a fluid and tactical core system:
Four Battles, Four Challenges
- Marengo: The audacious gamble of the First Consul.
- Jena-Auerstadt: A collision of armies across rough and forested terrain.
- Wagram: A masterclass in coordinated firepower.
- Leipzig (Battle of the Nations): The largest engagement of the Napoleonic Wars, featuring scenarios ranging from a single-day fight to a 20-turn "Grand Battle" covering three and a half days of combat.
Proven Tactical Mechanics
Based on the renowned Borodino-Napoleon at Waterloo game system, the game focuses on division-level management:
- Scale: 400 to 800 meters per hex, with each turn representing one to two hours of real time.
- Unit Scale: Units range from demi-brigades to divisions, with each strength point representing 250 to 350 men or equivalent artillery.
- Combat System: A challenging system where zones of control are rigid and combat between adjacent units is mandatory. The Combat Results Table keeps tension high: odds of 4:1 or better are typically required to guarantee a "Defender Retreat."
Deluxe Edition Upgrades
- Premium Components: Two large 22" x 25.5" mounted game boards.
- Modernized Visuals: New 9/16" counters and completely overhauled map and unit artwork for optimal clarity.
- Ease of Play: Full-color instruction booklet, new player aid cards, and original designer commentary.
Key Features
- Versatility: Perfect for both quick sessions (such as the "First Day" scenario) and massive, multi-day campaigns.
- Unified System: Standardized base rules across all four games make learning the entire collection seamless.
- Historical Depth: Each game includes exclusive rules, historical setups, and reinforcement schedules to accurately reflect the reality of the battles.
