The ASL Companion #4 – Jim Stahler's Definitive ASL Rules Guide

The ASL Companion #4 is the fourth installment in Jim Stahler’s acclaimed *Magnum Opus*, built to provide players with an approachable, crystal-clear breakdown of the dense Advanced Squad Leader (ASL) ruleset. This volume concentrates heavily on the core mechanics that drive every infantry engagement: movement phase actions and fire attacks.

In-Depth Breakdown of Core Infantry Mechanics

Through structured breakdowns, tactical summaries, and rule clarifications, this issue guides you through two fundamental chapters:

Chapter 7 – Men on March (Movement): Complete analysis of movement phase actions, terrain costs, hazardous movement, Assault Movement, Minimum Movement, Infantry Bypass Movement, Dashing across streets, Infantry Overrun, and Column Movement.
Chapter 8 – Rifles and Machine Guns (Fire Attacks): Detailed examination of infantry firepower, Fire Groups, Machine Gun mechanics, the Infantry Fire Table (IFT), Dice Roll Modifiers (DRM), leadership influence, losing leaders, Encirclement, Spraying Fire, Opportunity Fire, and Assault Fire phases.

Key Highlights:

Essential Reference Guide: Written by legendary ASL expert Jim Stahler to streamline complex rule interactions.
Fast Game Resolution: Helps reduce rulebook searching during competitive or friendly play.
Universal Value: An invaluable educational tool for both new players learning the system and veterans seeking a clear reference companion.
