And The War Came: The Fate of a Nation

April 12, 1861: the cannons roar, and America is torn apart. And The War Came places you at the helm of this brother-against-brother struggle through four "bloody Aprils." This strategic-level wargame captures the full scope of the conflict, requiring players to master logistics, military command, and the political management of 19th-century great generals.

Mechanics and Strategic Innovation

The game stands out with its "We Go" turn system: during each three-month seasonal turn, both players recruit, mobilize, and reassign their leaders simultaneously. The use of unit covers ensures constant tactical uncertainty, hiding the strength and type of your troops until the fateful moment of combat. Victory is earned through territorial control, military prestige, and seizing enemy victory points.

Highlights

Command System: Manage generals with varied abilities, capable of leading vast corps, but risking death or capture in every battle.
Fog of War: A concealment mechanic that forces careful scouting and bold strategic gambles.
Diverse Scenarios: 4 short yearly scenarios for quick sessions, 2 multi-year campaigns, and the Grand Campaign from 1861 to 1865.
