It is the second in a series exploring Airborne operations on D-Day and shortly thereafter in Normandy as part of Operation OVERLORD. The module focuses on the key actions to control the bridge across the Merderet River, just west of the French village of Chef-du-Pont, whose capture was assigned to the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR). The Americans faced the German infantry of Grenadier-Regiment 1057, Luftlande-Infanterie-Division 91, supported at times by re-purposed French armor from Panzer-Ersatz-Abteilung 100.

DZ: CdP includes a historically accurate map of Chef-du-Pont and its surroundings, designed by Ken Dunn with artwork by Charlie Kibler. Six standalone scenarios recreate portions of the battle, along with a Campaign Game simulating the entire three-day engagement.

Following the success of DROP-ZONE: SAINTE-MÉRE-ÈGLISE (not required to play), DZ: CdP offers a more compact experience, featuring one map sheet, a simplified Campaign Game, and no new counters. It is easy to set up and requires no box. Slope rules from earlier HASL modules are reintroduced with limited use, alongside a detailed LOS example showing slope and bocage interaction on the historical map. To play, you will need only the ASL modules BEYOND VALOR and YANKS.
