Nevsky: Teutons and Rus in Collision, 1240-1242 (2nd Edition)

In 1240, as the Golden Horde overran the East, Teutonic and Danish Crusaders seized the opportunity to invade the schismatic Russian lands and target Novgorod's lucrative trade routes. In Nevsky, step into the boots of either the Latin Crusaders or the Orthodox Rus. Winning this campaign will take far more than military might—it demands ruthless logistics, timing, and political savvy.

Mechanics & Gameplay

Launching GMT’s famous Levy & Campaign Series, Nevsky focuses on pre-industrial military operations. Players cycle between Levy (raising lords, troops, provender, and transport assets like carts, boats, and sleds) and Campaign (maneuvering, ravaging, and sieging). Orders are planned through a strict stack of command cards, reflecting medieval communication limits. Lords only serve for limited terms dictated by the feudal calendar; keeping armies in the field requires constant victories, loot, or coin payouts.

Key Features

  • The groundbreaking first entry in the Levy & Campaign Series by Volko Ruhnke.
  • Deep focus on medieval operational realities: logistics, seasonal movement, and feudal obligations.
  • Highly versatile: excelente for solitaire play or 2-player matches with optional fog-of-war screens.

Box Contents

  • 1 Mounted map of the Baltic frontier
  • Wooden pieces representing knights, sergeants, cavalry, and militia
  • Command, Event, and Capability cards
  • Lord mats for tracking forces and assets
  • Counters for transport (carts, boats, sleds), provender, and coin
  • 1 Feudal calendar with service markers
  • 1 Rulebook and 1 Playbook
  • Player screens for hidden levy options
