Dreams of Empire: Seeds of Empire – 18th Century India Expansion

Seeds of Empire is the second installment in Red Sash Games’ operational series covering conflict in 18th-century India, using the acclaimed LaceWars™ rules system (the 16th volume in the saga). This expansion pushes the boundaries of Dreams of Empire to include the whole of Central India (the Deccan) and extends the timeline into the 1750s to cover the Second Carnatic War.

Intense Geopolitics and Shifting Alliances

This is the watershed era when the British East India Company (John Company) officially entered the geopolitical arena of the Subcontinent. Experience the high watermark of the French presence under Governor Dupleix, the fragmentation of the Maratha Confederacy into rival clans, and the steep decline of the Mughal Empire. Players must navigate two simultaneous succession crises while managing semi-permanent alliances between Indian lords and European "auxiliaries."

Eight Unique Scenarios Included

  • The Second Carnatic War: Uses the original map set, featuring legendary historical figures like Clive of India, Chanda Sahib, and Mohammad Ali Khan.
  • Alternate Timelines: Change the opening moves with "Early Start" or simulate the EIC's early maneuvers in "Capture of Devikotta".
  • French in the Deccan: Uses the new maps exclusively, focusing on the Viceroyalty of the Deccan and the activities of Maratha clans.
  • Grand Campaigns: Combine maps and timelines for massive sandbox experiences covering both Carnatic Wars.
  • Malabar War: A smaller, focused scenario showcasing the expansion of Travancore against Cochin.
