Following the Third Syrian War to the Third Macedonian War, players lead one of the three dominant dynasties: the Ptolemies of Egypt, the Seleucids of Syria, or Macedon, navigating complex military, political, and economic challenges. The game emphasizes the pivotal role of individual leaders, represented by Leader Cards, each with unique capabilities in Campaign, Diplomacy, and Administration, as well as Loyalty, Intrigue, and Renown ratings. Players must balance the ambitions and skills of their leaders to advance their dynasty’s influence.
Wars, diplomacy, taxation, alliances, and internal stability are all essential strategic considerations. Kings command elite armies, warships, and mercenaries, manage campaigns, fight battles, and subjugate or ally with minor powers. Non-player factions such as Rome, Pergamon, and other powers interact dynamically, presenting opportunities and threats. The game operates in five-year turns, governed by an event deck that introduces historical and quasi-historical events, leader changes, and kingdom activation opportunities.
Victory Conditions: Achieve success by controlling key territorial objectives, accumulating dynastic achievements, and building the renown of your king. Automatic Victory marks a dynasty’s hegemony over the Hellenistic world and ability to resist Rome. A kingdom may also face elimination if repeatedly defeated by Roman forces.
Scenarios & Playtime: Includes introductory one-turn scenarios, medium-length 3- and 6-turn scenarios, and the full campaign spanning 11 turns. Typical turn duration is 30–60 minutes. Designed for three players, but includes rules for two-player games and high solo replayability with full information and aids for non-player kingdoms.
