Fallschirmjaeger: The Airborne Assault on Fortress Holland May 10 to 14, 1940

In the spring of 1940, the German military machine turned west. While the main armored thrust prepared to slice through the Ardennes, a daring, high-stakes trap was sprung: the first massive airborne operation in history. Fallschirmjaeger simulates this legendary offensive to capture Rotterdam and The Hague, paving the way for German panzers while the Dutch put up a desperate, historic fight for survival.

High-Stakes Paratrooper Operations

Using the popular, fast-playing Standard Combat Series (SCS) rules, this game challenges both players with brutal operational choices. The German player must drop and sustain isolated pockets of elite paratroopers, managing a shoestring budget of reinforcements. The Dutch player must mobilize quickly, launch immediate counter-attacks, and annihilate the scattered invaders before the advancing Panzer divisions can rescue them.

Three Historical Scenarios Included

  • Introductory Scenario (Bridges at Moerdijk & Dordrecht): Focuses on the critical bridgeheads needed to link the airborne forces with ground troops.
  • Assault on Den Haag: Simulates the chaotic and ambitious attempt to capture the Dutch capital, royal family, and government.
  • Air Assault on Fortress Holland: The grand campaign combining all operations across 5 days of relentless tactical combat.

Game Specifications:

  • Scale: Platoon & Company level.
  • Time & Map Scale: 8 hours per Game Turn; 0.6 miles (1 Km) per hex.
  • System: Standard Combat Series (SCS) — known for low rules overhead and deep tactical choices.

Components Included:

  • One 22 x 34" full-color hex map.
  • Two double-sided countersheets (560 total 1/2" combat counters).
  • 8-page SCS System Rulebook (v1.8) & 16-page Fallschirmjaeger Exclusive Rulebook.
  • Two 6-sided dice.
