Early Threatens Washington: The 1864 Maryland Campaign (Blind Swords Vol. 13)
It’s July 9, 1864, and the fate of Washington is in your hands! Designed to draw Union forces away from Petersburg, Lieutenant General Jubal Early’s Confederate offensive is poised to strike a lightly defended Union capital. Opposing him at the Monocacy River is Union General Lew Wallace, leading a hurried defense. This historic clash, remembered as "The Battle that Saved Washington", bought just enough time for Grant's battle-hardened veterans to arrive and repel the rebel threat.
The Acclaimed Blind Swords System
As the 13th installment in Revolution Games’ popular Civil War franchise, Early Threatens Washington provides a deeply immersive tactical experience without a heavy rules load. Utilizing the famous chit-pull mechanic, the game beautifully simulates battlefield friction, fog of war, and command paralysis, making it highly dynamic for two players and exceptionally friendly for solitaire play.
Flexible Historical Scenarios
- Introductory Scenario: Perfect for learning the core rules and testing initial defensive choke points.
- All-Day Full Battle Scenario: Explore alternative history. Do you execute Early's historical plan of forcing the Wooden and Railroad bridges, or do you devise a more clever method to clear the Georgetown Pike?
- Half-Day Climax Scenario: Skip the morning maneuvers and jump straight into the intense afternoon climax. Even though the Union is heavily outnumbered, the scenario is beautifully balanced and forces agonizing decisions on both commanders.
