At the start of the mission, a shared squad goal is revealed to all players. However, the true tension lies beneath the surface. Players assume unique asymmetrical military archetypes—such as the Recon, the Officer, or the Combat Engineer—each bringing distinct action decks to the grid. Crucially, every soldier is dealt a secret personal objective. These private motives might force you to sabotage the network, leave teammates behind, or alter your path, creating an environment of delicious paranoia where anyone could turn on you.

The game unfolds across a strict 14-turn limit, balancing dynamic player choices against automated, brutal alien phases. Every turn challenges you to move through shifting corridors, scan dark rooms, deploy automated combat robots, and utilize heavy weaponry. Simultaneously, you must contend with systemic station dangers: fighting spreading fires, repairing structural oxygen filtration failures, avoiding parasite contamination, and facing the wrath of the Alien Queen herself. Escaping the compound or successfully entering hibernation with your objectives complete is your only path to victory.
