Unclaimed Victory: Fuentes de Oñoro – The Peak of Glory & Empire

Following the retreat from the Lines of Torres Vedras, Marshal Masséna’s Army of Portugal surprised Wellington by returning to the offensive far sooner than anticipated. Unclaimed Victory simulates this pivotal border struggle (May 3–8, 1811). While the British invested the fortress of Almeida, the French fought to retrieve their reputation in a clash where armies were closely matched in numbers but diverse in tactical strengths.

Mechanical Analysis: A Multi-Scale Tactical Masterpiece

The Series System: Glory & Empire operates at 125m per hex with 20-minute turns. Units represent battalions/companies (infantry), regiments/squadrons (cavalry), and sections (artillery). The 132-page rulebook offers three levels of complexity: Soldier, Battalion, and Brigade.
The Marshal’s Game: A groundbreaking grand-tactical layer using area movement at 4x the tactical scale. Maneuver entire corps between the North and South maps, exploring "what-if" strategies and managing reinforcements over a 5-day campaign.
Aide-de-camp (ADC) Solo System: A sophisticated "automa" that manages the enemy's battle plan, adjusting postures (Attack/Defense) and reacting to threats based on danger levels and dice rolls.

Contextual Comparison

Bridging the tactical density of La Bataille (Clash of Arms) and the operational sweep of the Library of Napoleonic Battles (OSG), Unclaimed Victory offers unparalleled modularity for the serious Napoleonic student.

Premium Content & Components

5 Maps (22x34"): Including 3 South maps, 1 North map, and 1 Marshal's Game area map.
8 Counter Sheets: Featuring 5/8" units, 1/2" markers, and 3/4" grand-tactical counters.
Extensive Documentation: Over 320 pages of material, including a 132-page Rulebook, a 160-page Companion, and a 128-page History book.
14 Scenarios: Covering the main struggle for the village and the French "left hook" around the British flank.
