Become Rex Britannorum: strategy, placement and conquest

Rex Britannorum is a strategy and area-control game for 1 to 3 players (solo mode available). Victory is achieved by controlling roads and towns across the regions of Britannia shown on the game board, while completing two secret personal objectives that grant additional victory points.

Conquest is won by committing your forces at the right place and the right time. There is no randomness in combat resolution: success depends entirely on your strategic sense and troop management — only the best tactician can claim the title of Rex Britannorum.

Historical background

In 55–54 BC, Julius Caesar landed in Britannia and established the first power relationships between Rome and the British kingdoms. Over the following decades, client kingdoms emerged; by Claudius’s invasion in AD 43, entities such as the Regnenses, the Brigantes and the Iceni were vying for dominance. With Roman backing, each ruler seeks the title of Rex Britannorum.

Key mechanics

  • Placement and control: occupy roads and towns to score points.
  • Personal objectives: two secret goals per player for bonus points.
  • Deterministic combat: no dice or randomness — victory depends on planning and positioning.
  • Interaction: regional rivalries and blocking maneuvers to hinder opponents.

Box contents

  • 1 game board
  • 1 rulebook
  • 66 cards
  • 9 mini-cards
  • 3 card holders
  • 3 score boards
  • 145 wooden markers
  • 49 tokens
  • 1 token bag

Audience: strategy game enthusiasts seeking a tactical challenge without luck, focused on planning and conquest.
