Up to seven players vie for supremacy by negotiating deals in the battle before the battle. But if talks break down… war!

The game map alone is enough to entice any bystander to jump into the action. For an even more immersive experience, a larger neoprene map is also available, enhancing the game’s epic scale to match the grandeur of the conflict itself.

The Diplomatic Phase sees up to seven players forming alliances as the storms of war loom. Unlike most grand strategy games set in this era, this one includes naval units, naval battles, and the impact of blockades. Countries with surplus gold can fund their allies' actions, adding another layer of strategic depth.

Players take control of Austria, Britain, France, Prussia, Russia, Spain, or the Ottoman Empire. However, these major powers cannot stand alone—they rely on the support of neighboring Minor States.

While Alliance is best played with 3 to 7 players, the inclusion of Minor States adds extra strategic depth to the two-player mode, and innovative solo rules are also provided.

Each turn begins with players drawing five cards and discarding one. They then take turns playing cards, moving and building units, and engaging in combat if necessary. When leaders are played, a political phase occurs, allowing major powers to make diplomatic moves to sway the Minor States.

Players can forge alliances lasting a year or more, with various conditions in place—gold tributes, border disputes, non-aggression pacts, and more. Ultimately, the winner is the player who controls the most Victory Points in key cities by the end of the game.
